Laser Vein Removal
Veins, veins, go away… If you have unsightly spider veins on your legs, Sclerotherapy can be the best treatment. It can make your skin clear again and give you the freedom to bare your legs without self-consciousness. No more hiding!
What are spider veins? Are they the same as varicose veins?
Spider veins and varicose veins are different. While varicose veins tend to bulge, spider veins are flat and smooth. They’re also smaller than varicose veins and usually appear in a cluster pattern.
Varicose veins may mean that you have a disorder that needs medical treatment, but spider veins are not dangerous. They’re just annoying and unattractive.
There are a lot of factors that could have caused your spider veins – age, genetics, weight gain, or pregnancy, for example. That doesn’t mean you could have prevented them, but once they’ve appeared on your legs, Sclerotherapy is one solution.
Bear in mind that Sclerotherapy is used on the legs but not the face. If you have spider veins on your face that you want removed, visit our Photofacial page to read about how the IPL laser can remove these veins.
What happens in a Sclerotherapy session?
A Sclerotherapy vein treatment involves an injection using a micro needle. A solution is injected right into the vein that causes it to collapse and seal shut. Blood can then no longer flow through the vein, and this allows it to go away on its own a few weeks after treatment.
Don’t worry – the blood that flows through a spider vein isn’t necessary. Your healthy blood circulation won’t be affected.
How many Sclerotherapy treatments are necessary?
No two patients are the same, but you will probably need more than one treatment to fully clear your skin of spider veins. Of course, the more veins you have, the more treatments you’ll need.
Sclerotherapy appointments are usually scheduled every 5-6 weeks until you’re satisfied with the results.
Does sclerotherapy hurt?
Most people say Sclerotherapy causes a mild burning sensation, and others experience some slight cramping after the treatment. You can expect a little bit of bruising, too, and we’ll give you compression stockings to wear while you sleep for about three days after each vein procedure.
What is recovery like?
Sclerotherapy requires no real recovery period. You can go back to work or play immediately, but it’s best if you don’t exercise much for a few days.
Is sclerotherapy safe?
Sclerotherapy is very safe for most people. We’ll ask you questions about your medical history to make sure you’re a good candidate for vein treatment.
